How I Work?

My workshops begin with the understanding that creativity rarely arrives all at once. For some, it comes through words; for others, through listening, images, objects, or moments of quiet attention. Some people need structure before they can imagine freely. Others need space before they can begin.
I design creative writing and storytelling workshops that honour these differences. Rather than asking participants to fit a single idea of what writing should look like, I create conditions where curiosity can surface and individual rhythms can be trusted. The work is not driven by outcomes or polish, but by attention, play, and the slow unfolding of meaning.
Across all my workshops, storytelling is approached as a way of making sense of experience. A place where feelings, questions, and half-formed thoughts are allowed to exist before they are named.

Workshops for Children

My workshops for children centre on imagination, emotional literacy, and confidence.
I invite children into story worlds where listening is as vital as speaking, and where ideas are allowed to unfold at their own pace. At the workshops, children explore narrative by using character-led prompts, objects, sensory materials, and oral storytelling in ways that feel playful, grounded, and expansive.
Alongside writing workshops, I run Story Clubs for children who love listening to stories, particularly picture books. In these sessions, images are withheld. Children build the pictures themselves, drawing on language, memory, and imagination to create stories that first live in their minds. This approach strengthens narrative thinking and attention, while reminding children that stories do not begin on the page, but within.
My work with children is shaped by years of supporting autistic pupils and children with additional learning needs. Sessions are designed with care, flexibility, and attentiveness, allowing different ways of thinking and expressing to be recognised and valued.

Workshops for Adults

My workshops for adults are spaces of exploration rather than performance.
They are designed for beginners, returning writers, and those who feel drawn to stories but are uncertain about where they belong within them. These sessions focus on easing creative pressure, loosening the grip of perfectionism, and reconnecting participants with curiosity and play.
At the workshops, participants are encouraged to explore voice, memory, and narrative without the demand for finished work, through guided prompts and imaginative approaches. The emphasis is on process, discovery, and finding forms of storytelling that feel sustainable, personal, and alive.

Methods & Materials

I work with a range of creative approaches that open multiple pathways into storytelling. Writing might begin with a character, an object, a fragment, or a shared moment of listening. Sometimes it starts on the page; sometimes it begins elsewhere.
By drawing on varied materials and forms, participants are able to approach stories from angles that feel natural to them, rather than forcing creativity through a single narrow channel.

Workshops can take the form of one-off sessions, short series, ongoing clubs, or tailored projects. I work with schools, libraries, cultural spaces, and community groups, and I shape each workshop in response to the people in the room.
If you’re interested in collaborating, commissioning a workshop, or beginning a conversation, I’d be glad to hear from you.
